Devorah Adelist, Kindergarten Teacher (Judaic Studies)

BIO: Devorah Adelist was born and raised in Melbourne Australia. From a very young age she always loved working with children. Starting with running youth groups, leading to education support and eventually teaching her own class. She has worked in the classroom for over 10 years focusing on the lower elementary school age. After spending a couple of years in the classroom, she realised that she wanted to teach her own class and went on to study a Bachelors in Education (Elementary) through Curtin University. This has taken her expertise to the next level, during which she spent 20 weeks in a range of schools learning new and innovative ways to teach.

My Education Philosophy: I strongly believe every child has the ability to learn and grow. I approach education with the firm belief that if a child has yet to grasp a concept, it simply means they have not done so "yet". I aim to cater to the diversity of different learning needs and styles so that each child can reach their potential.

Why I Love Teaching in Mazel: I love to teach lower elementary, in particular Kindergarten. I love teaching using fun and creative learning activities, using a hands on approach. I'm excited to teach the kids how to read Hebrew as this is the foundation of all their future Judaic studies learning. I can't wait to bring the weekly Parsha and the Jewish Holidays to life to make it practical and exciting. Equipping children with this knowledge empowers them to lead a jewish home life and embrace the customs and mitzvot associated with Judaism. Most importantly, I aim to create an inclusive environment where every child can thrive and flourish.
