BIO: I was born in a small town named Guba located in Azerbaijan and immigrated to Brooklyn, New York in 1995 at the age of 9. I studied at Brooklyn College in which I obtained my bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education and minor in psychology. Now I’m continuing my education in Touro College to obtain my Masters in general and special education. I have been working as a teacher for 8 years and this is my third year teaching at Mazel Day School. As a mother of four, I understand the joys and challenges of parenting a two-year old.
My Educational Philosophy: My fundamental belief about education and children is that every student that enters my classroom can succeed. As a teacher, I want to help my students acquire the communication skills, problem solving skills, and critical thinking skills which will enable them to be life-long learners.
Why I love teaching and what I hope to accomplish in my classroom: I love teaching because I believe that every student has something to teach me and that students should experience learning as something fun, exciting, and interactive. My goal is to guild my students as they develop their character, values, and thinking. The reason I chose to teach the early childhood age group is because I believe that education starts from a very young age and it’s the time in which the children start learning about the world around them. They start understanding why things happen and it brings me joy that I am part of the future generation development.
I became a teacher because... My interest and passion for helping young kids started when I became a mom. . My vision for our children is… that every child is unique I would want to help every child in my classroom to grow and develop their social emotional skills, develop academically and learn self-help skills to become independent.
I joined Mazel because… I am proud to be a part of Mazel Day School and the Mazel team. The warmth, support and the friendliness between everyone is very welcoming. I love the encouragement to try the new ideas and techniques to meet the needs of the class and the children.
My favorite memory from being a student is… The pride on my teacher’s face when I scored well on a challenging test. She was so proud of my hard word and how it paid off! She was genuinely happy for me and that touched me.
The most challenging aspect of teaching Pre-Nursery is... the impulsiveness. It is hard to get a two year old to wait, to not touch, to follow instructions.
My best advice to parents is… to not be afraid to try new things and it is amazing how much there is still to learn and learning together with your child is priceless. Go places together, traveling with children isn’t as hard as it seems. Also, making a mess, create, cook and explore together! I see how fast my students grow up. This time is short. Enjoy your children.
If I could teach my students only one thing, it would be… to be understanding of others and kind to others. I work really hard to teach feelings and kindness to my students all year.
A trick I use in the classroom is... not really a trick, but just being myself. I am still a kid inside and I love being a little silly with my students. Children love the world of imagination and you can use it help them complete tasks needed. Children love music and nothing makes work go by faster than a song to go along with it. We always have a lot of fun together.
If I would not have become a teacher I would have become… a nurse.
Outside of school I like to... spend time with my family. I love seeing my children laugh and learn. We travel together every chance we get.
