Ahuva Spector, Lower School Counselor

BIO: My name is Ahuva Spector, I am an LMSW and I am thrilled to be the lower school social worker! From the start of my graduate program, I knew that I wanted to become a school social worker. I find that a child's social-emotional well-being is so interconnected with their education and it is such an honor for me to be a part of that.  I graduated from Touro University with my Masters in Social Work. My journey began as a social work intern in a preschool working with children ages 3-5. I have experience in case management as well as individual psychotherapy with children and adults. My fundamental beliefs are rooted in the power of empathy and the importance of human connection. One of my favorite quotes from Brene Brown, explains empathy beautifully. It goes "Empathy is simply listening, holding space, withholding judgment, emotionally connecting and communicating that incredibly healing message of 'You're not alone'".
